1. Minnesota Twins Home Opener
April 3
Nothing says "start of spring" better than baseball. Watch the Minnesota Twins host the Tampa Bay Rays for their home opener on a spring Friday afternoon. The first 10,000 fans will receive an Opening Day Beanie, and come early to enjoy Friday Happy Hour deals — $2 beers, $2 hot dogs and $2 snacks from gates open until scheduled first pitch.
2. Minneapolis St. Paul Film Festival
April 8-19
The 45th Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) brings bold, exciting and inspiring works by emerging and veteran filmmakers to the Twin Cities. The carefully curated selection of 250+ new films represents some 100 cultures and countries.
3. Louisa May Alcott's Little Women
April 18 - June 19
This new adaptation of Little Women by Lauren M. Gunderson celebrates the wonderful and difficult transition from girlhood to adulthood, and puts author Louisa May Alcott at the forefront of the classic tale. Lines from the original novel are used to capture the complexity and charm of the characters.
4. Art in Bloom
April 23-26
A spring time tradition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, this free festival is all about mixing flowers and art. See floral arrangements take shape as some of your favorite fine art pieces at the 42nd annual Art in Bloom.
5. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
April 15 - May 23
Broadway’s spellbinding spectacular Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to Minneapolis. Join Harry and his son on a mind-blowing new adventure—brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on the stage of the Orpheum Theatre.
6. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Art Fair
May 9 & 10
Celebrate Mother's Day at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Art Fair. Back for its third year, the art fair will feature approximately 150 artist booths, along with music, crafts, food, and more.
7. Art-A-Whirl
May 15-17
Art-A-Whirl is back for its 31st year! This festival brings together over 800 artists at more than 60 locations showcasing their work, and is a great chance to meet and buy art from all types of different artists including painters, jewelers, photographers, and woodcarvers. Art-A-Whirl is the largest of its kind in the country and includes opportunities to see private artist studios and galleries, demonstrations, mini-workshops, installations and special exhibitions.
Breweries and restaurants are also known to throw some pretty awesome parties to join in the fun. These are the top activities to check out during Art-A-Whirl 2026!
8. Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1910-1945: Masterworks from the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin

In the first half of the 20th century, Germany experienced the last years of the German Empire, World War I and the revolution that followed, the liberal Weimar Republic, the rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazism, World War II, and the Holocaust. Modern art played an important role in the discourse of the period, and politics influenced the arts.
This exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art features more than 70 paintings and sculptures from the collections of the Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery), the distinguished modern art museum of the Berlin State Museums. It traces the German experience in the visual arts over four decades.
9. New Restaurant Openings
Opening in April
A new sports bar with a serious food and beverage program is coming to Minneapolis! Sports memorabilia, a pull tab booth and 14 TVs will fill Asher's Bar & Grill, and the new menu will showstoppers, like a signature a smash burger with house brown-butter mayo and craft cocktails with spirits from local distilleries.
In May, Lonely's Bar will open on historic St. Anthony Main in the building that once housed Minneapolis' oldest bar, Pracna on Main, which opened in the 1890s. The new, traditional-style bar will have a nostalgic menu, pool table, Twins and Vikings game-day promotions and riverfront patio views.
Vegans will appreciate the return of Trio Plant-Based. They used to serve their vegan soul food in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood in South Minneapolis, but you can now find them in Midtown Global Market. Also new to Midtown Global Market is 7 Spices, a Somali restaurant with recipes shaped by experience and connection to cultural heritage. Try their lamb dishes or sambusas.
Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy Ichigo Tokyo Crepes, opening soon in Eat Street Crossing. Known for Japanese-style crepes and those viral, fluffy and jiggly Japanese souffle pancakes, you'll have to take a picture before you indulge! Finally, check out Nur House Cafe across from the Commons Park in downtown Minneapolis for creative lattes, like salted date caramel lattes and triple berry matcha, and housemade pastries.
