Top Things to Do in Minneapolis this April
The temps are warming, the days are getting longer, and the flowers are ready to bloom again. Between big name concerts, vintage markets, and the return of baseball, there won't be a shortage of things to do. Here are our picks for the top things to do this April!
1. Disney's The Lion King
March 27 - April 28
Giraffes strut. Birds swoop. Gazelles leap. The entire Serengeti comes to life as never before. And as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly emerges from the mist. This is Disney’s The Lion King, making its triumphant return to the Orpheum Theatre!
2. Minnesota Twins Home Opener
April 4
The Minnesota Twins will open their 2024 baseball season with a slew of fun activities at Target Field! Start the day with a drive-thru breakfast on Target Field's plaza (between 6 and 9 am) and get a chance to win a pair of tickets to the game. The first 10,000 fans in the stadium for game time will receive a Twins beanie, too. The Twins host the Cleveland Guardians, and first pitch is set for 3:10 pm.

11. MSP International Film Festival
April 11-25
As one of the largest and longest-running film festivals in the country, and a notable international gathering, the MSP International Film Festival will once again showcase around 200 films by both emerging and veteran filmmakers, representing more than 100 countries and cultures from around the globe, along with a full slate of parties, panels, and filmmaker conversations. The film festival takes place at The Main Cinema and other venues around the Twin Cities.
12. 10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography
April 12 & 13
A program completely consisting of Asian and Asian-American choreography is coming to the Northrop Auditorium. 10,000 Dreams — co-curated by Final Bow for Yellowface’s Phil Chan — features The Washington Ballet, BalletMet, and Oakland Ballet Company. These performances celebrate the 75th anniversary of Singaporean choreographer Choo San Goh (1948-1987) who brought The Washington Ballet international acclaim, plus works by BalletMet’s Edwaard Liang—the first Asian Artistic Director for a major American ballet company, Phil Chan and Caili Quan for Oakland Ballet Company, and the Minnesota debut of choreographer Brett Ishida.
13. Minneapolis Vintage Market at Machine Shop

16. An Evening with Leslie Odom, Jr.
April 21
Leslie Odom, Jr. is coming to the Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis. Leslie Odom, Jr. is a two-time Academy Award nominated, Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy Award nominated actor, singer, songwriter, and entertainer. With an expansive career that touches many performance genres, Odom has been repeatedly recognized as a unique performer with a serious and distinct dedication to the craft of storytelling. Best known for his breakout role as ‘Aaron Burr’ in the hit musical Hamilton on Broadway as well as his critically acclaimed performance as legendary soul singer Sam Cooke in Regina King’s 2020 film, One Night in Miami. Most recently, Odom made his long-awaited return to Broadway starring in, and co-producing, the new Broadway production of the classic American comedy Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch by the legendary Ossie Davis. His fifth studio album, When A Crooner Dies, was released in November 2023.
17. Art in Bloom
April 25-28
Art in Bloom, the annual celebration of art and flowers, exhibits imaginative floral interpretations of selected works of art from Mia’s permanent collection, created by more than 100 individual and commercial florists. Over the course of the four-day free festival, everyone is invited to experience the floral beauty and fragrance throughout the museum, take a free guided tour, and enjoy family activities for younger guests.
18. Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2 World Tour
April 27
After the release of her new album 'Pink Friday 2', singer, songwriter and rapper Nicki Minaj is taking center stage with special guest MONICA for her Pink Friday 2 World Tour 2024 coming to Target Center on April 27, 2024.
