The Jayhawks
Formed in Minneapolis in the 1980s, The Jayhawks helped shape alternative country with songs that pair country-rock guitars and close vocal harmonies with sharp, melodic songwriting. Gary Louris leads the band, whose breakthrough album Hollywood Town Hall and follow-up Tomorrow the Green Grass became touchstones of the genre. Their catalog also includes Rainy Day Music, featuring “Save It for a Rainy Day,” and the enduring song “Blue.”
