Rhiannon Giddens
Rhiannon Giddens brings a historian’s curiosity to American roots music, spotlighting Black musicians and traditions too often left out of its story. The singer and multi-instrumentalist first rose to prominence as a founding member of the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, then built a solo career that includes Freedom Highway and You’re the One. Her work reaches beyond song: Omar, the opera she co-composed with Michael Abels, won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Music.
