Periphery
Washington, D.C.-formed Periphery helped bring the tightly syncopated, down-tuned sound often called “djent” to a wider metal audience. The band’s progressive metal pairs intricate guitar work and shifting rhythms with melodic vocals, moving between technical complexity and memorable hooks. Its catalog includes the concept double album Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega, as well as Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre. “The Price Is Wrong” earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance.
