Mexican Band Exhibit: Open House Celebration
Join us to celebrate a new collaboration between Hennepin History Museum, the Minnesota Latino Museum, and Border CrosSing, centered on the Mexican Band of 1886 that performed in Minneapolis 140 years ago this month. This was the first large-scale Mexican musical performance in Minnesota, with ripple effects that lasted for several generations.
Open House Highlights:
- Our new traveling exhibit about this compelling story, including the band’s long term legacy of cultural enrichment in Minnesota
- Live performance of some of the band’s music by Jared Mikach, Border CrosSing Heritage Choir pianist
- A chance to meet board members of the three partnering organizations
- News about upcoming events
- Light refreshments
