Leenalchi
Leenalchi spins epic tales of love, death, and virtue. Melding psych rock and funk with pansori, the group reimagines the ancient Korean art form for the 21st century. Rooted in Korean shamanism and folk traditions, pansori historically features three players: a singer, a drummer, and the audience. Leenalchi expands that triad outward into a seven-piece band whose rhythmic backbone includes bass funk and hi-hats and whose voices mimic everything from burbling streams to cackling crows. Having garnered widespread praise within South Korea, the group now sets out on their first-ever US tour.
