Mall of America, one of the most visited tourist attractions in the entire world, is located just 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and only a few minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport! With more than 520 stores, 50 restaurants, an indoor theme park, and tons of other family attractions and nightlife options, Mall of America is a must-see in Minneapolis. In 2015, the mall unveiled phase one of its expansion, including two new hotels, a brand new atrium, and dozens of added luxury retailers.

Here’s what you’ll need to know to make the most of your visit to Mall of America in Minnesota:

Getting to Mall of Americamall of america rides

It’s easy to access the mall from both downtown Minneapolis and the airport. One of the most convenient ways to travel to the Mall of America is by light rail. This service connects downtown Minneapolis, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport, and the Mall of America and it’s simple to use!  Many hotels also offer free shuttle service between the airport and the mall - so be sure to check with your hotel about this service. If you’d like to take a taxi from the airport to the mall, the fare for this short drive will be approximately $14 dollars.

Where to Stay

Since the Mall of America is so convenient to both downtown Minneapolis and the airport, you’ve got dozens of lodging options when planning your visit. If you want to be close to all the action, there are two on-site hotels right in Bloomington, where the mall is located, Radisson Blu and JW Marriott. Many visitors do select a hotel in downtown Minneapolis to enjoy the amenities of the city and a convenient location that’s just a quick light rail ride away from the airport and the mall. Mall of America offers nonstop fun for your family.  Nickelodeon Universe® features 27 rides and attractions, like the new Flyover America flight simulation that takes visitors on a thrilling virtual tour of America’s landmarks.
