Make some memories in Minneapolis at the ballpark!
Incredible skyline views, a gorgeous stadium in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Minneapolis, delicious food options - there are countless reasons to visit Minneapolis for a baseball game! Located in the Warehouse District of downtown Minneapolis, Target Field is one of the league’s best ballparks, and was named the top overall sports stadium and game experience in North America by ESPN The Magazine shortly after the new field opened in 2010. Here's why we think you need to come to Minneapolis this baseball season and check out a Twins game:
Target Field is located in the historic Warehouse District and is on the edge of the North Loop, a vibrant neighborhood on the north side of downtown Minneapolis. On any given night the area is full of people in search of the hottest new and popular cafes, restaurants, and bars. Food isn't the only reason everyone flocks to the North Loop, the shopping scene is full of local finds and nearby venues provide endless entertainment. The area provides plenty of spots to explore before or after the game.
We all know nothing goes better with baseball like a cold craft beer and some awesome eats. Target Field does not disappoint. You can find local and unique favorites like delicious soul food from Soul Bowl, poutine from Red Cow, and Indian street food from Hot Indian. They even cater to dietary needs and have various vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options so everyone can find something they will enjoy!
Known as one of the "greenest" stadiums in the Major League Baseball, Target Field has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold certification and continue to push the boundaries of sustainability efforts for a ballpark.
Target Field also has the closest seating bowl in the MLB and the 4th-largest big screen guaranteeing you won't miss any of the action. A 360-degree open main concourse gives fans an uninterrupted view of the playing field so go ahead a grab a few snacks without the fear of missing out. The incredible skyline views make every seat in the house an instagrammable moment and the popular Budweiser roof deck features mostly standing room and the only bonfire in the Majors. On top of that the open air field and real grass provide an authenticity true baseball fans will appreciate.
Take an opportunity to tour the ballpark and get a sneak peak at areas of Target Field that many baseball fans don't get to see. On non-game days, tours are given at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and tickets are available online or at the Target Field box office.
The entertainment in Minneapolis isn’t limited to the game. Get in on all of the action in downtown Minneapolis just outside the stadium. There is plenty of fun to be had near the ballpark, whether you want to explore some art, see some nature or relax on a patio and participate in some people-watching, we have a list of 8 things you can do before and after a Twins game.
Target field is filled with kid activities in and around the ballpark, making it the perfect family-friendly outing. If you buy tickets in the Cub Family Section, each ticket gets you a free hot dog and Pepsi while sitting in an alcohol-free family section. Every Sunday is Kids Day presented by Gillette Children’s and Target. On this day kids meals are half price (just $4!). And as a special treat during postgame, kids can run the bases!
There are also plenty of amenities to make the trip to the ballgame more smooth-going. Family restrooms are located near many sections. If the kids are getting restless take them up to section 229, to a play area called TC’s Clubhouse, where they can release some energy between innings. And find fun activities, like face painting or photos with the T.C. Bear mascot set up all around the stadium.
Target field sits in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and is an easy walk from any of the hotels in the downtown area. Taking the Light Rail line to the game? That's a piece of cake since both the METRO Blue or Green line will bring you to Target Field Station Platform, taking you right to the stadium. Be sure to check out Metro Transit for your game day transportation needs! Parking around the area is a breeze too. The ABC Ramps connect by skyway (if needed) and provide easy walking distance to Target Field.
There are 5 craft breweries within a five-minute walk from the stadium! Check out Inbound BrewCo for a cool minimalistic vibe, alternating musical acts, 30 beers on rotation hard seltzer, and hard slushies. Across the street you’ll find Number 12 Cider and StormKing Brewpub + BBQ. Next head over to Fulton. Minneapolis’ first tap room was built in 2009. Fulton is one of our most popular breweries and is served in over 100 local restaurants. Feeling adventurous? Modist Brewing is serving up creative and experimental brew flavors.
Prices for tickets start at just $18 for most games and the Twins also offer multiple ticket specials and packages that included discounted seats.
There are many bargains to be found at the concessions as well. Near sections 133 and 327 are the family-value concessions where ballpark staples, like hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks are offered at affordable prices.
Outside the ballpark check out a few local bars and restaurants with game-day deals. Nearby places like Cowboy Jack's and Gluek's usually open a few hours before the game and offer discounts on food and beverages.
Every entrance to Target Field is accessible to those with disabilities, and once inside, special design features bring disabled fans closer to the game. There are great sight lines that guarantee fans in wheelchairs won’t miss any of the action on the field. In addition, those who are deaf and hard of hearing can read real-time PA announcements on outfield captioning boards. There are also lower counters (34 inches) with braille and large print at all food and beverage concessions.
