“There’s something really special happening around women’s sports in Minnesota right now, especially on summer Saturdays,” said Saara Hassoun, President of Minnesota Aurora FC. “We know thousands of fans will already be downtown that afternoon, and we wanted to create an easy, fun way for people to continue the experience together at Aurora’s Pride Match. This is about celebrating community, Pride and the incredible momentum behind women’s sports across the Twin Cities.”
“We’re excited to partner with Minnesota Aurora and Meet Minneapolis to create an experience that brings fans together and makes it easy to celebrate women’s sports all day long,” said Ashley Armstrong, Vice President of Sales & Service for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx.
Aurora’s June 6 Pride Match will feature themed activations, community partnerships and in-game programming centered on inclusion, visibility and joy. The match is part of the club’s fifth season and continues the club’s commitment to creating an accessible and welcoming matchday environment for all fans.
Following the Aurora match, fans can continue the celebration at A Bar of Their Own, the Twin Cities’ first sports bar dedicated exclusively to women’s sports, for a special Pride-themed happy hour featuring custom drinks and community programming. As part of the “Twin Cities Cheers to Pride” campaign, $1 from every featured drink sold will be donated to Twin Cities Pride.
“This is exactly the kind of intentional collaboration envisioned in our Destination Master Plan as we continue elevating Minneapolis’ profile as a national leader in women’s sports,” said Abby Poeske, Vice President of Destination Development and Public Affairs for Meet Minneapolis. “It’s a great example of how women’s sports in Minneapolis bring people together and create a true community experience.”
