UNITEDHEALTHCARE TO SERVE AS TITLE SPONSOR OF 2012 US OPEN RACQUETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
MINNEAPOLIS June 21, 2012 The US OPEN Racquetball Championships announced that UnitedHealthcare will serve as the title sponsor for the 2012 US Open Racquetball Championships. The agreement partners racquetballs largest and most prestigious annual tournament with one of the nations largest health and well-being companies.

The 2012 UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Racquetball Championships will be held Oct. 3-7 and is the sports original Grand Slam event bringing more than 800 players from more than 15 countries, and more than $4 million in economic benefit to the Twin Cities.
The US OPEN Stadium Court inside the Target Center arena complex in downtown Minneapolis is a made-for-TV spectacle of all glass that allows for viewing through all four walls. In addition to the marquee matches in the Mens Professional and Womens Professional divisions, the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Racquetball Championships offers competition among more than 80 USA Racquetball (USAR) amateur sanctioned divisions separated by age and skill.
Canadas Kane Waselenchuk, the defending Mens Professional Champion and the No. 1 ranked mens racquetball player in the world, is scheduled to compete. Waselenchuk and his three-year 137 match winning streak were recently profiled in the New York Times. Paola Longoria from Mexico, the defending Womens Professional Champion, also will compete. Longoria is the top-ranked womens player in the world and capped off the 2011-2012 season with an undefeated record.

US OPEN Racquetball Championships
The US OPEN Racquetball Championships is the sports original Grand Slam event. Now in its 17th season, the US OPEN has been hosted in Minneapolis since 2010, bringing an estimated $4 million in economic impact to the area each year. In addition to the top male and female professional players competing for the highest prize purse of the season, more than 700 amateur players participate among 80 USA Racquetball sanctioned divisions of age and skill.
