Union Depot to Host Free “Kids Days” Programs in June with Focus on
Summer Safety and Fun
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (May 23, 2016) – Union Depot in downtown St. Paul will host a series of free Wednesday “Kids Days” events on June 15, 22, and 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Twin Cities Road Crew. Each week, representatives from the Twin Cities Road Crew will bring fun ways for kids ages 4 – 12 to learn about summer safety while enjoying music, trivia, games, prizes, and crafts. The gatherings will be held in the Waiting Room and are open to the public, with no reservation required. Children may not be left at the event without a parent or guardian present.
To help kids get their safe summer started out right, there will be a Helmet Design Contest being sponsored by new Union Depot tenant Lowertown Bike Shop. Everyone in attendance can design their own safety helmet and at the end of the month, one lucky winner will be chosen to have their design professionally air-brushed onto their very own helmet.
The Kids Days themes are as follows:
June 15th – Train Safety with appearance from Minnesota Operation Lifesaver
June 22nd – Bike Safety with information from Minnesota Safety Council
June 29th – Summer Safety with information Minnesota Safety Council
Kids Days guests are invited to stay afterward for the Games Galore activities which happen each Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Games Galore is a Union Depot crowd favorite, with giant-size versions of classic games including chess, checkers, Connect Four, Dominoes, Jenga, Tic Tac Toe and others, and a variety of traditional-sized board games available for play.
