Timberwolves to Participate in Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 in Las Vegas
Minneapolis/St. Paul The Minnesota Timberwolves will participate in this year's Samsung NBA Summer League 2015 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
From July 10-20, 23 NBA teams and a team of NBA Development League select players will participate in a tournament-style format to crown the Samsung NBA Summer League Champion. Teams will compete in three preliminary round games from July 10-14 before being seeded in a tournament running through the Championship Game. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
This summer will mark the ninth NBA Summer League in Las Vegas appearance for the Wolves (2006-10, 2012-15). A year ago the Wolves went 2-4 in Summer League play. Minnesota is 20-22 all-time in Las Vegas.
Samsung NBA Summer League has a rich history of showcasing the NBAs future stars. Stephen Curry of Golden State and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the last two winners of the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Award, competed in Las Vegas before their rookie seasons, as did 2014-15 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves, whose first game at Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 (where he played for the Cavaliers) was the second-most-viewed NBA Summer League telecast of all time.
A complete schedule of games and broadcast information will be released at a later date. In addition, fans again will be able to watch Samsung NBA Summer League games live on NBA.com via a subscription-based package.
