THE NEW STANDARDS PERFORM AT ORCHESTRA HALL, June 29

The Twin Cities-based trio The New Standards, joined by special guests and The New Standards Big Band, performs a concert at Orchestra Hall on Friday, June 29, featuring their own renditions of music from their favorite films. The New Standards, which started in 2005 as an off-shoot project between three Minneapolis-based musicians and friends, has grown into a globe-spanning adventure—filling theaters and clubs around the world and producing CDs, videos, cartoons, dance and theater projects.
The three core members of The New Standards all come from illustrious Twin Cities bands. Chan Poling founded the seminal Punk/New Wave band The Suburbs. John Munson was an original member of Trip Shakespeare and the chart-topping Semisonic. Steve Roehm started on drums in the Texas punk outfit Billygoat and the avant-jazz Electropolis. Their performance with the Minnesota Orchestra in 2016 earned praise from the Star Tribune, which deemed moments of the concert “revelatory.” Please note that the Minnesota Orchestra does not perform on the June 29 program.
This concert is performed at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis on Friday, June 29, at 8 p.m., with ticket prices ranging from $30 to $65. More information is available at minnesotaorchestra.org and by phone at 612-371-5656. For further purchasing details, refer to the information section at the conclusion of this press release.
