TCMs Sandy Unger Earns National Community Leadership Award
Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Recognizes Youth Efforts
St. Paul, Minn. May 27, 2014 Twin Cities In Motions Sandy Unger was recently presented with the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutritions Community Leadership award for her work leading TCMs youth outreach programs: the Medtronic TC Kids Marathon Program, its culminating TC Kids running events, and the Wise Kids In Motion afterschool physical activity and nutrition program.
The President's Council Community Leadership Award is given annually to no more than 50 individuals or organizations that provide or enhance opportunities to engage in sports, physical activity, fitness, or nutrition-related programs within a community.
Unger, TCMs Youth Programs & Community Outreach Manager who has more than 35 years of experience in the recreation field, has led TCMs award-winning youth programs for the past eight years. Annually, more than 4,800 kids and over 50 schools participate in TCM childrens events which span the year. Since 2007, children participating in TCM youth programming have run a whopping 315,000 miles more than the distance between the earth and the moon.

Twin Cities In Motion is praised within our industry for its youth outreach, and Sandy is central to the planning and hard work that underpins that recognition.
Twin Cities In Motion recently hosted the TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run at Como Park in St. Paul where nearly 1,000 kids raced over distances from a half-mile to 5K (3.1 miles). The next TCM youth event is the Medtronic TC Family Events on Saturday, October 4 at the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul, part of Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend and the culminating event of the fall Medtronic TC Kids Marathon Program.
