SuperScript: Arts Journalism and Criticism in a Digital Age
May 2830, 2015
Walker Art Center, Minneapolis
In this age of democratized mediawhere curation, self-promotion, and DIY criticism collide and combine onlinewhat is the role of the professional art critic? Is virality killing or cultivating new audiences for the arts? How are artists telling their stories and expanding their practices in the digital realm? What are some possible futures for online arts journalism?
Superscript is a three-day conference that convenes an international array of thinkers to consider questions about the brave new world of arts publishing in a digital age. This is a gathering for writers, editors, artists, theorists, and curators in the thick of both the innovation game and the practical challenges of the still-evolving landscape of cultural publishing online. The conference is copresented by two organizations at the forefront of these issues: the Walker Art Center, creator of an award-winning, first-of-its-kind, news-style homepage; and Mn Artists, a trailblazing web-based media platform covering the art and artists of the Midwest.
Tickets go on sale January 27, 2015.
