Students to release 70,000 ladybugs in Nickelodeon Universe® on Earth Day
WHAT: Third-grade students from Visitation School will help Mall of America® release thousands of ladybugs throughout Nickelodeon Universe® on Earth Day, April 22. The ladybugs are released in Nickelodeon Universe to act as a natural form of pesticides on the live plants throughout the Park.
At 9:15 a.m., the students will learn about the natural use of pesticides and other green initiatives used throughout the Mall. Then, the students will help release the buckets full of ladybugs onto the plants.
Mall of America is committed to green design and lives green 365 days a year. The Mall has been environmentally friendly since opening in 1992, incorporating elements such as passive solar heating, an extensive recycling program and 30,000 live plants that act as natural air purifiers.
