SMOKEY ROBINSON TO PERFORM

PRIOR LAKE AUGUST 20, 2014 ­ Legendary singer, songwriter and producer Smokey Robinson will take the Mystic Showroom stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, October 4.

After first finding fame as frontman for Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, he became Vice President of Motown Records and later launched a successful solo career. Over the past half century Robinson has left an indelible mark on the sound of American pop music, penning many of Motowns greatest hits including Youve Really Got a Hold On Me, My Girl, My Guy, Shop Around, The Tracks of My Tears, I Second That Emotion and dozens more.

He has been honored with numerous awards including the Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, Kennedy Center Honors, an Honorary Doctorate from Howard University and the National Medal of Arts. Robinson has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His latest album, Smokey & Friends, was released last week and features duets with other music greats including Elton John, Steven Tyler, CeeLo, John Legend and Mary J. Blige.
