For Immediate Release
Founded by Artistic Director Matthew Culloton in 2004, The Singers organization is dedicated to giving world-class performances of the fi nest choral literature. The Singers exists to serve as artists, educators, and ambassadors of the choral art. The Singers has premiered and commissioned over fifty new works by composers including Stephen Paulus, Abbie Betinis, Jocelyn Hagen, Joshua Shank, Timothy Takach, Jennifer Brandon, Drew Collins, Eleanor Daley, and Craig Carnahan. Since 2004, Betinis, Hagen, and Shank have served as Composers-in-Residence. The Singers have recorded five albums which are available at all concerts, at www.singersmca.org, and on iTunes. The Singers also were featured in a documentary about composer Morten Lauridsens life and works. In June 2013, The Singers made their debut at the famed Ravinia Festival performing Rachmaninoffs Vespers.
The Singers present "Shining Night," a concert celebrating the ensemble's 10th Anniversary. Be swept away by Morten Lauridsen's Chansons des Roses and Benjamin Britten's Five Flower Songs and revel in the beauty of John Tavener's Funeral Ikos. As so often the case, The Singers will also share music from the rich palette of American folk songs and spirituals. Enjoy this winter's feast of transporting music sung by one of the country's finest choral ensembles!
