Shakopee Mdewakantons dance exhibition
returns to Mall of America® rotunda
WHAT: Native American singers and dancers donning vibrant regalia will perform in the Rotunda at Mall of America® on Thursday, August 15.
Beginning at 2 and 5 p.m., Northern and Southern drum groups will accompany the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community dancers, filling the Rotunda with traditional song and dance . Each performance will begin with a grand entry where Sisseton-Wahpeton Vietnam Veterans along with other veterans will carry flags and eagle feather staffs. A master of ceremony will explain to the crowds what is happening during the exhibitions.
At 3:30 p.m., an honorary veteran program will take place featuring the importance of military service. All veterans in attendance will be invited to participate.
Additionally, guests will have to the opportunity to visit a traditional Dakota tipi on display in Sears Court during the performances.
