12th Annual Minnesota SAGE Awards for Dance Announce 2016 Nominees

Minneapolis, Minn. (Sept. 16, 2016) –The Minnesota SAGE Awards for Dance is pleased to announce the 2016 nominees. The final honorees will be celebrated during the 12th Annual SAGE Awards at The Cowles Center for Dance & Theater Performing Arts, Goodale Theater on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

The Minnesota SAGE Awards for Dance are given annually for outstanding achievement in six categories for dance work presented in the past year. Please join us to celebrate the past year of dance in Minnesota which will include performances by past awardees Shohei Iwahama, Rooted: Hip Hop Choreographers’ Evening and an excerpt created by Zoe Sealy from Lost Voices in Jazz. Music will be provided by dance community favorite Michelle Kinney and Joe Strachan. Show begins at 7:30 pm, and will be followed by a public reception in the lobby.

About the MN SAGE Awards for Dance

Since 2005, the Minnesota SAGE Awards have been presented annually to honor choreographers, dancers, educators, presenters, scenic and lighting designers, visual artists and others who continue to make the Twin Cities a national center of dance. The awards, named in honor of the late Sage Cowles, were created to celebrate the dance community and bring national attention to the tremendous amount of high caliber dance activity in the Twin Cities. Dana Kassel and Stuart Pimsler serve as coordinators for the SAGE Awards in collaboration with an advisory panel representing the Twin Cities dance community.

The Sage Awards are made possible by the McKnight Foundation, HRK Foundation, Dancing Fair, Barre and The Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts.
