Safety and Security Procedures Set for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon
Twin Cities In Motion, Public Safety Agencies Partner for Planning
St. Paul, Minn. September 25, 2014 In an effort to ensure the safety of next weeks Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, event organizers are advising race attendees to expect measures designed to ensure the events security and safety.
Participants and spectators are discouraged from bringing bags and backpacks to the event. Any bags carried in proximity to the course or start and finish areas will be subject to search. Event attendees will notice signage warning against leaving bags unattended at the event.
The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathons safety and security plan is reviewed annually in partnership with federal, state, and local agencies who meet throughout the year. The plan builds upon the events comprehensive plan, which was created more than a decade ago to provide round-the-clock security and is updated every year. The safety and security of participants, spectators, and volunteers has always been Twin Cities In Motions top priority.
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend kicks off on Friday, October 3 with the Health & Fitness Expo at RiverCentre in St. Paul. Activities continue on Saturday, October 4 with the TC 10K, presented by Sprint, the TC 5K Run/Walk, presented by Fredrikson & Byron, and the Medtronic TC Family Events, all held on the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul. The weekend culminates with the 16th running of the Medtronic TC 10 Mile and the 33rd annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, October 5.
