Observations of Predation in Humans: A Lecture by Dr. Zira, Animal Psychologist
MINNEAPOLIS, October 20 2014On November 6, 2014 the interdisciplinary artist and scholar Coco Fusco will perform Observations of Predation in Humans: A lecture by Dr. Zira, Animal Psychologist at the Walker Art Center. In the performance Fusco will personify Dr. Ziraa chimpanzee psychologist who studies human behavior in the 1968 movie Planet of the Apestaking a look at economic violence from an evolutionary perspective.
The performance is part of Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art on view at the Walker through January 4, 2015. This groundbreaking exhibition is the first comprehensive survey of performance art by black artists working from the perspective of the visual arts from the 1960s to the present, and features Fusco's work in the galleries.
