Bloomington, Minn. (Nov. 11, 2011) - Professional cake decorators will test their craft and compete for over $2500 in cash prizes at Mall of America® during the Fifth Ultimate Cake Decorating Competition. Crowds of guests will watch in amazement as contestants quickly and creatively decorate a cake in either the birthday or wedding cake competition. The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The contest, sponsored by the Upper Midwest Bakery Association, includes carefully selected decorators to battle it out in either the My Winter Wonderland themed birthday cake competition or the My Royal Wedding Cake category. In just 90 minutes or less, the 12 selected participants for the birthday cake competition will decorate a cake and 24 matching cupcakes. The 14 teams, each comprised of two people, competing in the wedding cake competition must complete a five-tier or larger wedding cake in just three hours.

In addition to the contest, children are welcome to decorate their very own cupcakes and get their picture taken with their decorated masterpiece in a photo booth. Other guests can decorate cupcakes with a $1 donation to the UMBA scholarship fund.
