PARADISE IN THE CITY MACYS FLOWER SHOW® PRESENTS BRASIL: GARDENS BY BACHMANS SUNDAY, MARCH 25 thro
Minneapolis, MN (March 5, 2012) This spring a beautiful tropical paradise will blossom with majestic flora at the annual Macys Flower Show®. Set to bring a floral wonderland filled with brilliant colors, aroma and textures, Brasil: Gardens by Bachmans will showcase a rainforest of treasures at Macys Downtown Minneapolis. From Sunday, March 25 through Saturday, April 7, 2012, the 8th Floor Auditorium of the iconic Macys store will be home to exotic floral displays that celebrate the remarkable beauty and landscapes native to Brasil.
In partnership with Bachmans for more than 48 years, Macys Flower Show has delighted generations of floral aficionados with spectacular presentations of lush gardens that showcase millions of live flowers, plants and trees from around the world. Blooming in unison despite the various climates from which they may originate, the show offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy these magnificent blooms together in an unexpected setting.
This year, a tour through Macys Flower Show is a tour through Brasil. Our vast, landscaped gardens reflect everything from the dense rainforests of the Amazon, to colonial Brasil as well as the colorful inner cities and the beautiful gardens framed by the starkly modern architecture of Brasilia, said Mike Gansmoe, Vice-President of Macys Parade & Entertainment Group.
Showcasing the wonder of Brasil through lush tropical garden presentations that depict its unique landscape, culture and famed celebrations, Macys Flower Show will be a feast for the senses. From the Amazon rainforest and the samba pulse of Rio de Janeiro, to its legendary carnival celebration, a South American botanic wonder will take root in the heart of the city. The design of this years show takes inspiration from the famed works of Brasilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. During his lifetime, Mr. Marxs nature-based, modernist aesthetic brought splendor to international urban landscapes from Copacabana Beach to Kuala Lumpur. This unique urban meets nature combination will serve as a blueprint for the shows architecture and landscaping.
Welcoming spectators to the gardens in paradise will be a stunning multicolored 10-foot tall toucan. Regarding the jaw-dropping centerpieces Mike Gansmoe commented, The signature of Macys Flower Show this year will be a huge brilliantly colored topiary toucan created from organic materials like button flowers and exotic black leaves that along with the glorious gardens will truly capture the color, complexity and the diversity of this vibrant South American country.
In addition to serving as the official celebration for the start of the spring season, the Flower Show also showcases some of Bachmans most talented floral and entertaining designers. These décor wizards bring to life a rotating Flower Show favorite the Bouquet of the Day. The extravagant, one-of-kind creations are stunning, larger-than-life centerpieces that each conveys the personal style of the designer. Whether traditional, contemporary or abstract, these limited-time floral masterpieces are always a highlight of the show.
Macys Flower Show is also the perfect backdrop for two weeks of in-store special events, including fashion events and cooking demonstrations that delight floral fanatics while celebrating the rejuvenating power of the season.
Macys gives special thanks to Bachmans and Gucci Flora for making this beloved Twin Cities tradition possible.
Free to the public, Macys Flower Show will be open during regular store hours. For additional information about this event, please visit www.macys.com/flowershow.
