Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to honor those impacted by pancreatic cancer at Mall of America®
WHAT: Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.
On November 5, to kick off Pancreatic Awareness month, the Minnesota affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will host PurpleLight, an evening of hope and remembrance for those impacted by Pancreatic Cancer.
Taking place in the Parkview Event Center at Mall of America from 6 – 9 p.m., the event is focused around a special purple light ceremony. Survivors alongside family and friends who have felt the impact of pancreatic cancer will illuminate the space with purple by holding up purple glow sticks in memory of those who lost their lives to pancreatic cancer.
Registration is still open for this free event. Guests can register online at www.pancan.org or at the event.
More than 50,000 people in the US are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year. Only 9 out of every 100 people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will live after five years. Pancreatic cancer is the only major cancer with a five-year survival rate in the single digits.
