PAISLEY PARK ANNOUNCES ARTS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP WITH MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS
CHANHASSEN, MN (November 19, 2018) – Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota announced today a new partnership with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS), providing a structured program to welcome more students into Prince’s iconic creative sanctuary. The program will be focused on providing students with admission-free tours and music education experiences, helping to equalize opportunity and access for students who may not otherwise have the ability to experience Paisley Park. The FAIR School in Downtown Minneapolis is the first to fall within the new Paisley Park/MPS partner program. Speaking on the partnership, Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent Ed Graff noted, "As an avid Prince fan and strong proponent of arts education, I am excited for Minneapolis students to benefit from this partnership with Paisley Park. It's fitting that this wonderful opportunity is starting with The FAIR School, which is a magnet high school in Downtown where the arts are integrated in all academic areas. I look forward to continued collaboration with Paisley Park and growing our partnership to provide even more MPS students with this experience." With the MPS partnership, Paisley Park’s program will focus initially on schools within the Minneapolis district, with an aim to broaden the reach of the program in the months ahead.
Through his boundless creative output and mentorship, Prince tirelessly advocated for Arts education – inspiring people of all ages to explore their artistic individuality, and championing the learned approach of “Real Music By Real Musicians.” Paisley Park is thrilled to continue welcoming youth into Prince’s creative environment, inspiring the next generation of artistic and cultural creators. Mitch Maguire, Paisley Park’s Tour Operations Manager, added “Prince constantly pushed himself to reach new heights and taught others to expect the same from themselves. He was a passionate advocate of music education and its ability to inspire children and adults alike, and we look forward to fulfilling this tenet through our work with MPS.”
