MYSTIC LAKE PLAYS OUTSIDE THIS SUMMER
Two Outdoor Events Make Their Debut
PRIOR LAKE April 17, 2014 Mystic Lake is making plans to celebrate summer outsidehosting free outdoor festivals for those who love food, drink, music and summer fun.
The first annual Northern Thunder Motorcycle Rally takes place May 30 through June 1, featuring live entertainment throughout with headliners Firehouse on Friday and Warrant on Saturday. Attendees are invited to participate in celebrity Q&A autograph sessions with Erik Estrada from CHiPs on Friday and Paul Teutul, Sr. from Orange County Choppers on Sunday. Activities will include bike contests, slow bike races, poker walk, go-go tent, games and more.
Rock & Rockets returns with fireworks, food trucks, live music and a beer garden to mark a festive day of independence from 5 to 11 p.m. on July 4. Local bands Free Fallin, Lost Highway and Boogie Wonderland will play throughout the evening. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to the event, which will conclude with Minnesotas largest fireworks display beginning at 10 p.m.
The end of July brings the first annual Great Midwest Rib Fest. The countrys best award-winning rib cookers will compete for $15,000 in prizes July 25 through 27. Paul Revere and the Raiders will headline the concert stage on Friday, July 25, and The Oak Ridge Boys take top billing on Saturday night. Live entertainment is scheduled throughout each day, and shoppers can browse over 100 artisan booths. The rib judging panel will be led by head judge Jack Riebel, former Executive Chef and co-founder of Butcher & the Boar (named the Star Tribunes 2012 Restaurant of the Year, and James Beard Foundations Best New Restaurant semifinalist). Riebel was also a 2013 James Beard nominee for Best Chef: Midwest. Also judging will be Stephanie March, editor of Mpls.St.Paul Magazines Eat + Drink section and host of the Weekly Dish radio show. More judges will be announced soon.
Beer-loving foodies will enjoy an upcoming gourmet four-course pairing Dinner with John Leinenkugel Tuesday, May 20, at Mystic Steakhouse. Leinenkugel will speak about each beer served throughout the evening, paired with menu highlights including beer-braised rabbit and elk tenderloin with foie gras.
