Monster Trucks and Flying Snowmobiles - January 21 at the Metrodome
On Saturday, January 21, 2012, adrenaline fans will get a double-dose of high-flying antics and high-powered competition at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam®, the worlds premier monster truck series and part of the SUBWAY® Motorsports Series, will invade the Dome for match-ups of some of the sports hottest new machines. In addition to Monster Jam, guests will get an extra bonus as the Freestyle Snowcross snowmobile challenge will fly into the Twin Cities.
In Snowcross, riders launch their snowmobiles off ramps that propel them over 30 feet in the air while they manipulate 500 pounds of steel into an aerial assault of acrobatic moves, including the cliff hanger, heart attack and other hot moves.
The Monster Jam event will feature the Minneapolis debut of a Marvel Entertainment-branded monster truck: X-Mens Wolverine, driven by Alex Blackwell vs. Iron Man driven by Scott Buetow. Also invading the Twin Cities for the first time will be Monster Mutt Rottweiler driven by Charles Benns, and --- to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the worlds most popular monster truck --- the Grave Digger 30 truck to be driven by Randy Brown.
Other drivers and USHRA Monster Trucks slated to appear include: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles driven by Joey Parnell, Advance Auto Parts Grinder? driven by John Seasock, El Toro Loco® driven by Becky McDonough, Maximum Destruction® driven by Kreg Christensen, Bounty Hunter driven by Daron Migues, Iron Outlaw driven by Ben Winslow, Samson driven by Dan Patrick, Raminator driven by Mark Hall, Rammunition driven by Mat Dishman, Mechanical Mischief, Martial Law driven by Paul Strong, and Barbarian driven by Devin Jones. (Subject to change without notice.)
Monster Jam® events showcase freestyle and racing competition among custom-designed machines that average 12 feet tall by 12 feet wide, sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.
The Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam® show at the Metrodome is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 21, 2012. Tickets start at $15 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and under.
