MNUFC ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH DELAWARE NORTH SPORTSERVICE
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (August 20, 2018) -- Minnesota United today announced a partnership with Delaware North Sportservice – a division of global hospitality company Delaware North – making the company the club’s food and beverage partner at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Currently under construction in the Midway neighborhood, Allianz Field is scheduled to open for the 2019 MLS season and will have a capacity of 19,400. As the food and beverage partner, Delaware North Sportservice will service Allianz Field’s four clubs, 22 suites and a variety of concessions outlets.
The venue will feature a wide selection of local and ethnic flavors, under the guidance of a to-be-named executive chef. Among other food and beverage highlights, the north end of the stadium will boast a large brew pub – stretching the width of the pitch – with 96 taps, including local craft beers.
“We are excited to announce our Club’s long-term partnership with Delaware North,” said Chris Wright, CEO of MNUFC. “Delaware North has an outstanding reputation in the sports world for providing fans with incredible and unique hospitality, food and beverage experiences. It used to be that food at the stadium was an afterthought but in our industry, it’s increasingly become one of the most important elements of the fan experience and Delaware North understands that.
“Because soccer is the world’s game,” continued Wright, “it was essential to us that we partner with a provider invested in creating a unique food story at Allianz Field. That means incorporating local and ethnic options, ultimately reflecting the diversity of the community that supports this team and this sport, in addition to traditional stadium fare.”
Delaware North is no stranger to the Twin Cities. The company also operates food, beverage and retail services at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, and is a food and retail partner at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
“Much like when we opened Target Field with the Minnesota Twins, we are proud to be here from Day 1 — working with our partners at Minnesota United to build a dynamic food and beverage experience from the ground up at Allianz Field,” said Carlos Bernal, president of Delaware North Sportservice. “We couldn’t be more excited for Minnesota United and its fans as the team reaches another major milestone with the opening of the state-of-the-art Allianz Field.”
Delaware North provides food and/or retail services at more than 50 professional sports venues throughout the world, including internationally recognized soccer venues such as Wembley Stadium and Emirates Stadium in the United Kingdom. In the United States, Delaware North is the owner and operator of TD Garden in Boston and operates in venues such as Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Busch Stadium in St. Louis and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
