September 29, 2014 (Minneapolis, MN)- Legalize it, Minnesota! is coming on October 18, 2014 to Mill City Nights. The line-up includes local hip hop artists including headliner Mike Mictlan of Doomtree and also features Mixed Blood Majority (members of Kill the Vultures, No Bird Sing, and Doomtree), Ecid, Shiro Dame, Greg Grease (of Heiruspecs), Manchita (of GRRRL PRTY), Guante, TruthMaze, Java Starr & Metasota, Mastermind, and Voice of Culture Drum+Dance. Toki Wright will be DJing this event. This concert is presented by MN NORML, the state affiliate of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (N.O.R.M.L.) and Free Black Dirt, and is coordinated in conjunction with their conference at the convention center during the day on the 18th.
The concert is a part of activities to get Minnesotans educated about the significant social, economic and health benefits of cannabis legalization and to mobilize supporters. MN NORML is hosting these events to present our plan to end marijuana prohibition in Minnesota and to make calls to action. This concert and political action conference mark the launch for our statewide, grassroots campaign for full legalization, which we hope will lead to the end of the failed War on Drugs says MN NORML executive director, Marcus Harcus, a long-time local organizer and the first African-American to hold this position in the organizations history.
This concert is the after-party of the Legalize it, Minnesota! political action conference to be held earlier on the 18th at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The keynote speakers for the conference are Dr. Carl Hart, a neuroscientist, drug addiction researcher, professor of psychology and psychiatry at Columbia University and award winning author, and Keith Stroup, the founder of national NORML. Workshops sessions will focus on Ending Cannabis Prohibition and the Drug War, and Health Justice and Economic Development related to the legal cannabis industry with speakers from Law Enforcement Against Prohibition and legal cannabis social entrepreneurs and businessmen from Seattle, WA and Denver, CO.
Doors open at 7:30pm, show begins at 8pm and will go until 2am. $10/advance, $15 at door, $30 VIP/Movement Sponsor. 18+.
