Minnesota Wild Kids Day at Preseason Game, October 2nd
MINNESOTA WILD TO HOST KIDS DAY AT PRESEASON GAME ON OCT. 2
Roughly 3,000 Tickets Donated to Kids to Experience Professional Hockey Game
Saint Paul, Minn. (Sept. 30, 2016) - The Minnesota Wild announced today that Sunday, Oct. 2, will be designated "Wild Kids Day" when the team hosts the Carolina Hurricanes at 5 p.m. in a preseason contest at Xcel Energy Center. Thousands of youth from across the State of Hockey will have the opportunity to experience a National League Hockey game thanks to tickets donated by the Wild and hundreds of season ticket holders. Kids will also take center stage in each of the regular Wild in-game elements.
"We felt a preseason game offered a great opportunity to create a memorable, exciting experience for kids throughout the State of Hockey," said Minnesota Wild Chief Operating Officer Matt Majka. "We owe a tremendous thanks to our season ticket holders who generously donated their tickets to make this day possible for so many kids. I have a feeling our team will enjoy it as much as the kids do."
Wild season ticket holders and the team combined efforts to donate roughly 3,000 tickets to the cause. The Wild then distributed the tickets to over 20 community and non-profit organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, learn-to-play programs, area children's hospitals, military families and youth hockey programs.
Throughout the game, kids will have various opportunities to experience free, kid-friendly activities such as face painting (Section 104), a balloon artist (Section 104), and a coloring station (Section 113). Kids can also take photos with player cutouts (Section 113) and receive an autograph from a Wild player to be announced (Section 121) from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m.
Kids will make the "Let's Play Hockey!" call, skate in the youth starting lineup, ride on the Zambonis during intermission, and more.
