MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Lynx Foundation today announced that it will be accepting applications from non-profit organizations for grants for the upcoming 2012 season. The application process will be open until May 31, 2012. Organizations interested in obtaining an application can download one online at www.wnba.com/lynx/community/minnesota_lynx_foundation_2012.html.

Throughout the 2012 WNBA season, the Minnesota Lynx will give out nearly $40,000 spread throughout nine separate grants to organizations which focus on a specific area of charity. Five of the nine grants will be dedicated to supporting organizations which raise breast cancer awareness throughout Minnesota. The remaining four grants will be donated to organizations which focus on hands-on programs which positively impact Minnesota youth.

The Minnesota Lynx Foundation supports breast cancer research and support programs in the state of Minnesota. In the past year, the Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation and the Minnesota Lynx Foundation have combined to impact 2,565 organizations with over $1,000,000 in in-kind donations, 60,000 Tickets for Kids donations, nearly 40,000 Starting 5 Reading Program Participants, 4,328 volunteer hours, 53 Heroes in the Making on-court presentations and 14 $5,000 grants.
