Minneapolis, MN In launching its Next 50 Years, Minnesota Dance Theatre (MDT) presents The Enchantment: 12 Dancing Princesses, a re-working of its 2006 production at the Pantages Theatre. The production is accompanied by a live music quintet comprised of strings and a piano.
The classic Grimms Fairy tale comes to life with themes of addiction, mystery and romance. Where do the twelve princesses disappear to at night? And why are their shoes worn-out every morning? Brave men risk their lives to solve the riddle, and win one of the kings daughters as reward, but only one succeeds. Join the princesses on their secret journey of haunting and unimaginable beauty.
The risk is deadly. The reveal is spectacular.
ABOUT MINNESOTA DANCE THEATRE
For the past fifty years the mission of Minnesota Dance Theatre has been to create masterful and provocative dance performances which entertain and inspire audiences. Minnesota Dance Theatre (MDT) was founded in 1962 by Loyce Houlton, one of the first American women to gain international recognition as a choreographer, teacher and producer. In doing this she embarked on an artistic journey that would change the Twin Cities artistic landscape and have a lasting impact on the world of dance. National recognition for its innovative performances helped establish MDT as the flagship dance company in Minnesota. In 1995, Lise Houlton was appointed artistic director, having recently retired from an acclaimed international performing career that included Stuttgart Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.
