Minneapolis Institute of Arts presents "Marks of Genius" exhibit
There are all kinds of buried treasure, and to be the one to uncover it is a rare thrill. This summer, from July 13 to September 21, you are invited to discover one of the museums hidden gemsan exquisite collection of drawings, watercolors, and pastels. Due to their sensitivity to light they are typically kept deep in museum storage. Marks of Genius: 100 Extraordinary Drawings from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts unearths one hundred works from the vast collection of over 2,600 sheets. Spanning six decades and featuring works by Degas, Picasso, Klimt, Kirchner, Beckmann, OKeeffe, Hopper, Warhol, and Lichtenstein, Marks of Genius offers an uncommon opportunity to view works that otherwise rarely see the light of day.
Tickets to the exhibition also gain you access to an open Drawing Studio. Develop your drawing skills, compose your own still life, or sketch from plaster casts of classical sculptures. Visit the Drawing Studio on Thursday evenings, from 69 p.m., for The Artist Is In, where artists, including Mequitta Ahuja, whose work is on display in Marks of Genius, will be on hand for informal demonstrations, gallery talks, lessons, and to share their personal philosophy of drawing.
Get your tickets and discover what drawing can do.
