Minneapolis Institute of Arts announces first installation of Sound.Art MIA
Join other art appreciators for the first installation of Sound.Art MIAa new contemporary music program at the museum that invites all your senses to experiment, create, and play.
Contemporary art can take many forms both on the wall and off. These forms are experimental in ways that spark passion, inspiration, and sometimes contradiction, but always conversation. On February 27, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth, CKM, Free Kitten, etc.) and Bill Nace (X.O.4, Vampire Belt, Ceylon Mange, etc.) bring their wailing-electric-guitar-duo side of the experimental art conversation to Minneapolis in the form of Body/Head.
Often performing against a backdrop of slow-motion film projection, which serves as a powerful and visionary dream narrative, Body/Head is becoming known for their psychedelic, improvisational performancesa perfect fit for the inaugural program of Sound.Art MIA! Local virtuoso musician Paul Metzger will kick off the evening with haunting sounds from his 23-string banjo.
