MILL CITY FARMERS MARKET'S FOURTH ANNUAL BREAD FESTIVAL

MINNEAPOLIS (August 28, 2014) Mill City Farmers Market hosts its 4^th Annual Bread Festival with Mill City Museum, sponsored by Gold Medal Flour.Get ready bakers and bread lovers, its that time of year again. Mill City Farmers Markets annual Bread Festival is back for its 4^th year. Teaming up once again with the Mill City Museum and our sponsor, Gold Medal Flour, this exciting event highlights the tradition of bread baking right at the heart of the Twin Cities historical milling landmark. The festival will combine educational events at the Market, outdoor baking demonstrations, a bread-baking competition judged by a panel of local celebrities, and The Currents Mark Wheat will once again entertain us as emcee! Join us for these exciting activities and stay to shop the market for your weekly grocery needs dont forget your shopping list!

Mill City Cooks takes on a new look for the day, complete with an outdoor oven and pizza-making demo provided by Lorenzos Ovens. Local celebrity bakers Zoe Francois and Jeff Hertzberg will join us for baking demonstrations starting at 10:00 am. During the demos, a fantastic team of judges, including Steve Horton from Rustica Bakery and Sun Street Breads Solveig Tofte will be evaluating the submissions to Mill Citys fourth Bread Baking Contest under two categories: Quick Breads and Yeasted Breads. Prizes will include Gold Medal Flour branded merchandise and some fresh farmers market goodies, approximate retail value (ARV) of the basket: $100.00. Prizes will be awarded to the top three breads in each category and the 1st place winners recipe will be published in Mill City Farmers Markets on-line Recipe Archive and on the Gold Medal Flour website!

While at the Market, dance as you shop to tunes by local jug band sensation Roe Family Singers. Make sure to stop by featured community partner Compatible Technology International and learn about this non-profits work in alleviating hunger and poverty in developing countries. Thanks to volunteers from OHK Grange, kids can get creative at our Crop Art booth, where seeds are used to create works of art! Kids will also be happy to know they can stop by and pet their furry friends from Oliver H. Kelleys Farm! Once youre shopping is done, step inside the Baking Lab in the Mill City Museum to check out two special demos at 1:00 and 2:00 pm with the Grain and Flour Quality Lab team from General Mills.

Celebrate Minnesotas bread baking history at Mill City on September 13^th.
