Meet Minneapolis announces changes to the department of Tourism and International Relations
(MINNEAPOLIS) May 30, 2014 Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association, is pleased to welcome Cheryl Offerman to the department of Tourism and International Relations as international tourism sales manager. Offerman will report directly to Beth Helle, who has been recently promoted to director of tourism.
Offermans career spans more than 27 years working with the travel trade, most recently as travel trade marketing manager for Explore Minnesota Tourism. In this position, she directed domestic and international travel trade relations on behalf of the state of Minnesota. She led a team who together actively developed leisure travel programs, worked with state and regional partners, airlines and media worldwide. Offerman was responsible for initiating and leveraging relationships with multi-state tourism coalitions, inter-agency boards and industry committees for the benefit of tourism statewide. A graduate from the University of Minnesota with a masters degree in education and second languages, Offerman is fluent in German and also holds an undergraduate degree in journalism.
Helles 20-year travel trade career includes both domestic and international tourism development and marketing for Mall of America and most recently as international program manager-international relations for Meet Minneapolis specializing in key European markets.
As director of tourism, Helle will be responsible for establishing, implementing and overseeing the sales and services operation for domestic and international group and leisure travel. Her duties also include the continued development of Meet Minneapoliss international meetings initiative and identifying new business opportunities related to leisure travel.
