Work created during the fellowship year will be presented in the form of a catalog and a public presentation about their new work. Fellows will have additional opportunities to consult with review panelists, local curators and local and national artists about their practice and receive opportunities for professional development throughout the fellowship year. The fellowships are funded by a generous grant from The McKnight Foundation and administered by mnartists.org.

Awards are made in 12 disciplines through nine arts organizations and presenters.
The McKnight Artist Fellowships were created in 1981 to help artists set aside time for study, reflection, experimentation, and exploration; take advantage of opportunities; and work on new projects.
