Matt Meunier appointed director of sales for Sports Minneapolis
Meunier served as the senior national sports account executive since 2011 where he led bid proposals for major city-wide sporting events. In his new role, Meunier will serve on the Meet Minneapolis Leadership Team and will assist in strategic efforts to promote and sell the City of Minneapolis as a premier destination for sports-related events. He will continue to report to Brent Foerster, senior vice president, Destination Sales, at Meet Minneapolis/Sports Minneapolis.
“Matt is a passionate leader who played an integral role securing X Games for 2017 and 2018 along with a number of other successful initiatives, including Super Bowl LII and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four,” said Foerster. “His competitive drive combined with his experience in the market with event rights holders and his ability to build strategic partnerships will further not only Sports Minneapolis’ impact, but also the growth of sports as an economic engine for the community.”
Prior to joining Sports Minneapolis, Meunier was associate director of sports development at the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is an undergraduate of the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul with a master’s in business administration from the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business in Minneapolis. Meunier has received numerous awards, including the 2013 Collinson Media & Events National Travel & Tourism Industry’s Top 40 Under 40.
