Bloomington, Minn., (April 11, 2012) Mall of America Lieutenant and security supervisor Zach Hamann was presented with the My Boss is a Patriot award by Brigadier General Denny Schulstad on Wednesday, April 11. On behalf of the Minnesota committee for Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve, Lt. Hamann was recognized for this prestigious award for demonstrating extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the National Guard and Reserve.

Mall of America is committed to fully supporting our employees who serve in the Reserves, said Doug Reynolds, Director of Security, Mall of America. Lieutenant Hamann exemplifies this commitment and couldnt be more deserving of the Patriot Award.

Lt. Hamann was nominated by Army Reserve Specialist Chad Olson who appreciated Hamanns flexibility and understanding in schedule changes for last-minute National Guard duties. The nomination stated that Lt. Hamanns value for military service members resonates in the way that he treats his employees with dignity and respect.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense organization established to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers. They strive to develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and resolving conflict between employers and service members.
