SAINT PAUL, Minn. (February 16, 2016) – Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority is thrilled to welcome Lowertown Bike Shop to Union Depot. Lowertown Bike Shop is leading with the vision that there is a bike for everyone. “Everyone’s needs and budgets can be met at our shop,” said Crystal Sursely, operations manager. Targeting an opening date of May 1, Lowertown Bike Shop will operate a repair shop and the indoor bike storage facility with shower services on the lower level of the Head House. A retail shop will be located on the main level of the Head House in Suite 160.
“Lowertown Bike Shop’s move to Union Depot complements the existing bike infrastructure perfectly,” said Rafael Ortega, chair, Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority. “From a professional tune-up to dreaming up a custom bike, the services provided by Lowertown Bike Shop will continue to benefit the Lowertown community.” The Union Depot space is three times larger than the existing space in the Jax building. Lowertown Bike Shop will have convenient access from Sibley Street in addition to connections through the Head House.
Lowertown Bike Shop opened in 2011 and specializes in bringing new life to used bikes by supplying a wide range of quality bicycles and parts. Operators Jeremy Wagner and Crystal Sursely believe that biking can change lives. “We focus on discovering the thing that makes each person excited to ride a bike – whether they ride five blocks or 20 miles,” said Wagner as he explained how the Lowertown Bike Shop team customizes the bike purchase process for every individual.
Since 2010, the Regional Railroad Authority has held a strong commitment to serve bicycle commuters and recreational cyclists at Union Depot. Chair Ortega indicated that “the Regional Railroad Authority board of commissioners and the staff team at Union Depot never lost sight of the promise of a truly multi-modal facility offering pedestrian, bicycle, car sharing, commuter bus, regional bus, passenger rail and light rail connections.”
Details about the Lowertown Bike Shop grand opening at Union Depot will be available in April.
