CLE CREDIT DEADLINES APPROACHING FOR MANY ATTORNEYS: GUTHRIE CLE PROGRAMS OFFER ENGAGING AND STIMULATING PROGRAMS FOR CREDIT
LIVE AND ONLINE COURSES BRING THEMES AND TECHNIQUES FROM THE WORLD OF THEATER TO LEGAL PRACTICE
(Minneapolis/St. Paul) With deadlines fast approaching for many attorneys to compile the annual Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits required by the Minnesota Bar Association, the Guthrie Theater today announced a new live CLE, Taking Center Stage: Issues, Techniques and Ethical Pitfalls of Winning Legal Performances. This new course draws upon the common experience of lawyers and actors in their day-to-day utilization of the art of storytelling, and focuses on the need to develop this skill set through practical approaches to creating compelling and effective narratives in legal practice using insights from the world of the stage. This live CLE presented at the Guthrie Theater will be offered each Friday from May 17 to June 14 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
While the realm of the CLE class for many attorneys is a matter of annual obligation and frequently associated with uninspired classroom experiences, the Guthries collaboration with ShowCourse brings innovative and engaging Continuing Legal Education to attorneys. With live and online offerings, these courses address abstract legal issues such as ethics or elimination of bias through educational tools such as staged readings of scenes from plays as well as actual legal transcripts.
ShowCourse is an affiliate of NarrativePros, LLC, based in Minneapolis, MN, providing training for corporate and professional executives. Utilizing the skills developed in the theater, ShowCourse incorporates a story-centric approach to training while bringing first-class artistic process and production quality to its CLE courses. Online CLEs available through ShowCourse include live moderation. Topics available include Racial Equality in American Voting Rights, the Role of Racial Profiling in the Drafting, Execution and Enforcement of Law, and Challenging Gender Bias: Positive Role Models in Theater, Society and Law.
