Kevin Love to Participate in 2014 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest as Part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night
Love Aims to Reclaim Three-Point Title
Minneapolis/St. Paul The NBA tonight announced that Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love, recently selected by the fans to make his third All-Star game appearance and first career All-Star start, will represent the Wolves in the 2014 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. Love, who won the contest in 2012, will look to reclaim his title after not participating in last year's event. The Foot Locker Three-Point Contest is part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night (7:00 p.m. CST on TNT).
Love has already made a career-high 107 three-pointers this season, which ranks 13th in the NBA and fourth among frontcourt players. Hes connected on 37.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc and has recorded a career-high 11 games with at least four made three-pointers, fourth among NBA forwards and eighth overall. He matched a franchise record with eight made three-pointers against San Antonio on Dec. 13 in San Antonio and connected on five against Oklahoma City on Jan. 4.
Love currently holds averages of 25.6 points (fourth in the NBA), 13.2 rebounds (second) and a career-best 4.0 assists per game this season, attempting to become the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975-76 to average 25+ points, 13+ rebounds and 4+ assists per game in a season. Love currently leads the league in double-doubles (41), 20-point/10-rebound games (30) and 30-point/10-rebound games (11), a league-leading seven of which have been 30-point/15-rebound performances, four more than his closest competition (Aldridge, 3).
Love defeated Ryan Anderson, Mario Chalmers, Kevin Durant, James Jones and Anthony Morrow to win the 2012 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. Love knocked out Durant in the final round, 16-14, to capture the title.
