The Karaoke Sing Thing ends on a high note at Mall of America^® to support Special Olympics Minnesota

WHAT: The Karaoke Sing Thing, a statewide charity based singing competition, will bring finalists to Mall of America^® on Saturday, June 8 for a live sing-off. The final competition will determine three champions in the country genre to perform at Moondance Jammin Country Fest and three in the rock genre to perform at Moondance Jam this summer.

A panel of celebrity judges will be onsite to give their feedback to each performer. The live audience at Mall of America, however, will determine each contestants fate by voting, via text, for their favorite performer from the country and rock categories. Additionally, guests will enjoy a performance from local rock-country stars Copperhead Creek.

The event also doubles as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota. Each contestant has been raising awareness and pledging dollars for the cause. Guests can go online at any point leading up to the event to vote for their favorite contestant and donate to Special Olympics Minnesota.

To enter the Karaoke Sing Thing, contestants had to post a 90-second video of themselves singing the best rendition of their favorite country or rock song to the Karaoke Sing Thing website by April 30, 2013. Contestants were then able to choose one of three ways to get selected to perform at the Mall: rely solely on their talent by a panel of judges, share their video via social media channels and obtain the highest number of votes on their video or raise the most money in donations for Special Olympics.
