JDRF celebrates 22 years at Mall of America®

with 22 years of spare change

WHAT: JDRF will hold their 22nd annual Walk to Cure Diabetes at Mall of America® on Saturday, Feb. 22.

A leader in funding diabetes research, JDRF has hosted their annual walk at Mall of America every year since the Mall opened in 1992. This years walk celebrates 22 Years of Change in two ways.

The last 22 years have yielded extraordinary changes in technology in the search for a Type 1 Diabetes cure. Several of these technological advances will be featured in the vendor area during the walk on Saturday.

In celebration of 22 years of diabetes research, Mall of America is making a donation based on 22 years of spare change. Mall guests have been throwing spare change into Nickelodeon Universe ponds for nearly 22 years. The Mall has collected more than 3200 pounds of change from these ponds and all will be donated to JDRF.

Walk activities on Saturday include a vendor area featuring new Type 1 Diabetes technology, a Kids Fun Zone complete with dancing and crafts and a celebration ceremony in the Rotunda.
