JazzMN Orchestra Announces a Robust 2014-15 Season
Minneapolis, May 1, 2014 --The JazzMN Orchestra, Minnesotas premier jazz orchestra, presents its 2014-15 season. We're very excited about this new concert series, said Artistic Director Doug Snapp. Once again, we have put together a wonderful variety of concerts with award-winning guest artists who appeal to a broad audience and cover a wide span of jazz styles.

JazzMN Orchestra Featuring Dave Weckl, drums
Saturday, October 11, 2014, 7:30 p.m.
Dave Weckl is one of todays most acclaimed jazz drummers. He started in the 1980s New York fusion scene; then gained national notice performing in Chick Coreas Elektric Band. Modern Drummer inducted him into their Hall of Fame, naming him one of the 25 best drummers of all time.
JazzMN Orchestra Presents the Music of Little Big Bands

Little big bands groups larger than a combo but not a full big band have produced a lot of big jazz, from Miles Daviss Birth of the Cool to contemporary groups such as Gordon Goodwins Little Phat Band. This great music hasnt been played nearly enough, something JazzMN will help remedy in November.
JazzMN Orchestra Featuring Pete Christlieb, saxophone

Pete Christlieb is a jazz bebop tenor saxophonist, known for his longtime stint as jazz tenor for the Tonight Show Band led by Doc Severinsen. Christlieb has worked alongside Louie Bellson, Chet Baker, Woody Herman, Count Basie and Warne Marsh. He also performed the legendary sax solos on the Steely Dan tunes Deacon Blues and FM.
JazzMN Orchestra Featuring Bob Mintzer, saxophone

Bob Mintzer is an L.A.-based jazz saxophonist, composer/arranger, big band leader and member of the storied fusion group, The Yellowjackets. JazzMN will showcase the music from his current project, the Bob Mintzer R&Big Band which features the music of Sly Stone, Sam & Dave, the Isley Brothers and James Brown.
Beginning June 1, season ticket packages are available at special "Early Bird" prices: $109 Main Floor, $102 Balcony. These prices represent a savings of up to 20 percent over single day of concert ticket prices. JazzMN also offers an "Early Bird" student season package for only $59 and $40. All concerts are held at The Auditorium at Hopkins High School, 2400 Lindbergh Dr. Minnetonka.
