Hennepin History Museum hosts a talk: Fireside Chat: The Life and Times of Franklin Library: 100 Years and Counting with Cassie Warholm-Wohlenhaus.
Minneapolis, MN, May 1, 2015 The Hennepin History Museum hosts a presentation at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 28th, 2015.
Franklin librarian Cassie Warholm-Wohlenhaus puts Franklin Librarys long history into a broader historical and cultural context and explores the link between library and community. Warholm-Wohlenhaus will take you on journey from the institutions roots as a simple community library housed in a local store, to the Scandinavian language collection that attracted new immigrants to the library a hundred years ago, to the current building built by early 20th century philanthropists. She will also cover more recent developments from the happening 1960s to the librarys updated configuration, services, and programs.
Fireside Chats are included FREE with museum admission ($5 for adults, $1 children and seniors, free for HHM members).
Limited free parking available on-street and in our rear parking lot. Pay parking is available in the adjacent MIA lot.
Fully experiencing the museum at the present time requires climbing stairs between floors. We are working hard to provide an elevator in the future to make your museum fully accessible to everyone.
