Info: A Timberwolves player will be awarded the Flip Saunders Legacy Award prior to tip-off at tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The award was created to honor the life of Flip Saunders and his commitment to community involvement by recognizing a current player who has demonstrated excellence in community service. The winner is chosen by a vote among current rostered players. This season’s recipient will be presented the award at center court by Flip’s widow Debbie and son Ryan.
The Flip Saunders Legacy Fund, which was established by Flip’s family to aid and support deserving individuals or groups to continue the positive impact of his life, will also present a $5,000 donation to the Timberwolves & Lynx Basketball Academy. This donation will provide opportunities for area youth with a financial hardship to attend a Timberwolves or Lynx basketball camp or clinic.
The Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx Basketball Academy provides camps and clinics throughout the year to enhance skill sets, basketball fundamentals and create a new and fun environment for youth around the community.
