FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, October 8, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
Garrett "G. Love" Dutton, Jeffrey "The Houseman" Clemens and Jimmy "Jazz" Prescott are celebrating their 25th year as touring and recording artists. With their signature blend of Delta blues, hip hop, funk, rock, and jazz, G. Love & Special Sauce have created their own funky stew of American music. For their show at First Avenue on Friday, January 10, expect a high-energy mashup of funky beats and songs intended to get the world smiling and dancing.
Michael Kiwanuka’s Love & Hate rose to success “on a tide of unanimous acclaim and is widely considered one of the decade’s classic albums. As well as Big Little Lies, Kiwanuka’s songs have popped up in television hits like Atlanta, Empire and When They See Us,” (The Guardian). Michael Kiwanuka brings his timelessly soulful folk pop to the Palace Theatre on February 3.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his breakout album, City of Black & White, Mat Kearney revisits some of his favorite songs off the record with a new perspective. The City of Black & White Revisited Tour features Kearney's extensive, award-winning catalog in a rare intimate acoustic performance. Mat Kearney’s tour stops at the Fitzgerald Theater on February 4.
FEATURED SHOW:
A sense of fulfillment is richly felt in Cigarettes After Sex's music, which unspools like the most achingly romantic of films: immersive, cohesive, and transporting. Indeed, Cigarettes After Sex will open with a short film, You’re the Only Good Thing In My Life. The noir-tinged dream pop quintet plays First Avenue on Sunday, October 13.
